Product Description

The Five Ashes Reserve Chardonnay is hand crafted using traditional techniques from selected grapes and given 100% new French oak including Seguin Moreau Grand Cru and Chagny Special Selection. The first release, the 2001, was given 5 stars (94 pnts) by James Halliday and listed in his best Australian Chardonnays. As with all Hamelin Bay’s white wines this wine is bottled in stelvin screw caps to ensure many years of fault free enjoyment.

Region: 100% Five Ashes Vineyard, Margaret River.
Colour: The colour is pale yellow.
Bouquet: The nose is very restrained and pure with quince and fig on a bed of pine nuts and freshly roasted cashews with glimpses of citrus and mineral characters.
Palate: The palate is of moderate weight with an undeniably powerful presence and long persistence. The wine is still very back palette oriented with an excellent natural acidity beckoning for several years cellaring to reach full palate expression
